Update your Victron GX device to the new look interface

You may have seen that our guides all feature the latest onscreen interface for the GX device range from Victron. This new interface enables lots of new features, enhanced usability and speeds up remote access via VRM.
For all those reasons, we recommend customers to upgrade to the latest Beta release to enable this benefits.

Old vs New UI - which do you prefer? (Yeah, we thought so!)

Luckily, its really easy to update if you have a touchscreen or remote access via VRM already, as long as you're online.

1. Tap on the screen anywhere or press the return key (arrow one) on the VRM remote console to bring up the lower bar with "Pages" and "Menu".

   

2. Go to the bottom of the device list and select "Settings".

3. Scroll down to "Firmware" and tap on it.

4. Scroll down to "Online updates" and tap on it.

5. Tap on "Update feed", and select "Beta release" in the menu.

6. Tap on "Check for updates".
   The update should be available at this point, at the time of writing this guide, this is v3.50~15.

7. Install the update and wait for the GX device to reboot.

   

   When the GX device has rebooted... Nothing. That's what we want at this point.

8. Next, go back to the Menu > Settings as per step 1 and 2.

9. Scroll down to "Display and language" and tap on it

10. Once in the Display and language menu, scroll to the bottom and select "Onscreen UI". Tap on "Gui-v2 version (beta, check the announcement first)"

    

Everything will go blank, and Remote Console via VRM will be disconnected.
If you are doing this directly on a touchscreen, the onscreen UI will go blank for a few seconds, and the new UI will load.
It should look a bit like like the screen below.
You can change between light and dark mode via the "Display and language" menu item.

If you're accessing the console via VRM, you'll need to wait for the GX device to reboot and re-connect to VRM.
When reconnected, refresh the VRM page in your browser or quit and re-open the VRM app, and you'll see a new option in the sidebar as below.
Click or tap on the "GUI-v2" option in the sidebar and you'll see the new UI onscreen.
